All students must carry the following at all times during the course:
Before your first day, complete the ACT e-learning module online - you’ll find it and step-by-step instructions on our website. You should also carry out the recommended home study to prepare for the quiz on day one. All details and resources are available on the site.
While some centres offer the Door Supervisor Refresher over 2 days, we deliver ours across 3 days to ensure the highest quality of training. We have found this approach greatly benefits our students, as they gain a deeper understanding of the topics without feeling overwhelmed by the amount of information that can accompany a two-day course. This includes a full dedicated day for First Aid, rather than compressing it into a shorter schedule.
Please note, this extended format does not affect the course fee.
Your exams vary by course and include both theory and practical assessments.
Each theory exam is a multiple-choice test covering topics discussed in class. You must meet the minimum pass mark on every paper to qualify.
Practical exams are filmed scenario exercises submitted to the awarding body. You’ll demonstrate hands-on skills and may answer follow-up questions, for example:

The Door Supervisor & Security Guarding course practical assessment covers :
These theory and practical assessments are supplemented by smaller tasks you’ll complete throughout the course.
Results are typically released within 5-10 working days after course completion. Please note, this process is managed solely by the awarding body and is beyond our control.
If you don’t pass an exam, don’t worry - it’s not the end of the world. You’ll simply return on a scheduled date to resit the specific exam you didn’t pass. There’s no need to retake the entire course. For example, if you fail 1 out of 4 exams, you’ll only need to attend for one day to resit that exam. The first resit is free of charge. However, if you do not pass the resit, a £50 fee will apply for any further attempts.
Yes, first aid training is included in the full Door Supervisor and Security Guarding course, as it’s a licensing requirement. It’s covered by the course fee, and you’ll receive a separate certificate for it.
To apply for your SIA licence, you’ll need to create an account on the official SIA website. Once you’ve successfully completed the course and passed all exams, and assuming your details are correct, your qualification will automatically upload to your SIA account. You can then follow the SIA’s instructions to complete your licence application. We're always happy to assist you with this process if needed.
While we are not directly affiliated with employers, our extensive industry experience allows us to guide you toward opportunities and resources to help launch your career in security.
No, you only need the specific licence required for the role you’re applying to. However, holding two licences - like Door Supervisor and CCTV - makes you more attractive to employers and opens up more opportunities. For example, if you and another candidate both apply for a Door Supervisor position but you also have a CCTV licence, you’ll stand out as more versatile and flexible.
